Frequently asked questions
General
I accept a limited number of families in order to provide intentional and personalized postpartum care. A non-refundable retainer is required to reserve services and secure availability on the calendar.
Cancellations made more than 7 days before the scheduled start of services may receive a refund of payments made beyond the retainer amount. Cancellations made within 7 days of scheduled services are non-refundable.
If you need to reschedule a visit, please provide as much notice as possible. Rescheduled sessions are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
Because birth and postpartum experiences can be unpredictable, emergency situations and medical circumstances will be reviewed compassionately on a case-by-case basis.
The health and wellbeing of postpartum families and newborns is a top priority. If anyone in the household is experiencing symptoms of illness, fever, vomiting, or has been exposed to a contagious condition, clients are asked to notify me as soon as possible.
Depending on the situation, support may be:
Rescheduled
Shifted to virtual support when appropriate
Likewise, I will never knowingly provide care while ill or contagious and will communicate promptly if any health concerns affect scheduled visits.
Postpartum doula care through Tainaru provides non-medical emotional, educational, and practical support during the postpartum period.
Support may include:
Emotional support and nurturing presence
Newborn care guidance
Feeding support and encouragement
Infant soothing techniques
Light household support related to postpartum recovery
Meal support
Rest facilitation and recovery-centered care
Resource referrals when appropriate
Care is personalized to each family’s needs, preferences, and values.
Tainaru Postpartum Doula & Maternal Services does not provide:
Medical care or clinical assessments
Mental health therapy or psychiatric services
Diagnostic services
Professional housekeeping
Transportation services unless previously agreed upon
Care outside the agreed postpartum support scope
Clients are encouraged to maintain regular communication with their licensed healthcare providers regarding medical or mental health concerns.
Communication may take place through:
Email
Text messaging
Your client portal or booking platform
Scheduled phone or video calls
I make every effort to respond to non-urgent communication within 24–48 business hours.
Please note that response times may vary during weekends, holidays, or active client care hours.
I value compassionate care rooted in mutual respect, healthy boundaries, and sustainable support practices.
Respectful communication is expected from all parties. In rare situations involving safety concerns, repeated boundary violations, or conditions that prevent safe care, services may be paused or discontinued.
These boundaries help ensure that care remains supportive, grounded, and sustainable for everyone involved.
At this time, I operate as a solo postpartum doula practice and do not currently guarantee backup doula coverage.
In the rare event that illness, emergency, or unforeseen circumstances prevent scheduled care from taking place, clients will be notified as soon as possible and every reasonable effort will be made to reschedule services promptly.
Because postpartum support is deeply personal, I believe in maintaining transparent communication and intentional care relationships. While backup coverage is not currently available, clients are encouraged and supported in maintaining additional community, family, or professional support systems whenever possible during the postpartum period.
If future trusted backup partnerships become available, clients will be informed accordingly.
